Hello, supporters of P.S. 31 Samuel F. Dupont Elementary School in Greenpoint Brooklyn!
Many of our water fountains are currently not working. Please help us with financial aid so that we can install one water filtration system that will be located on our first floor. This would help enable our students to refill their water bottles and eliminate single use plastic bottles in the building.
The many health benefits of regular water consumption include:
- balanced electrolyte levels
- proper digestion
- helps avoid overeating and sugary drinks (linked to poor health outcomes, like obesity)
- replenishes fluids lost through exercise (important especially after our recess walking/running club, that is encouraging kids to be more active at recess)
This bottle re-filling station, which would be located in our lower floor hallway. This would allow staff, students, and visitors who work and learn on the first two floors (PreK-2 students, the teachers who support them: our gym , library, enrichment, ENL and cluster teachers; our secretaries and principal, and other student support staff) to stop using so much plastic and keep hydrated with good-tasting, filtered water throughout the day. It would also tie in to the NYC DOE campaign of “Bring It,” which supports reusable, refillable water bottles that help save our oceans.
Please help us provide access to water bottle re-filling filtration systems by contributing and/or sharing this donation campaign to your network of friends and family so we can have one on the first floor of our school. Every little bit helps us get to our goal of $1600. Together, we are the family of Samuel F. Dupont! Thanks in advance for your support!
